Bush Walking
A range of short and long day walks are available in the Great Western Tiers including walks into the Liffey and Meander World Heritage Areas and onto the Central Plateau Protected Area.
Track notes are being developed for this site to cover the more popular and most accessible routes which include Liffey Falls, Quamby Bluff, Alum Cliffs, Devils Gullet and Meander Falls.
Well-equipped and experienced walkers may wish to select from the following options:
Walls of Jerusalem National Park: Accessible only on foot, the Walls of Jerusalem is best experienced over two to three days although fit walkers can cover the major features in a nine-hour day walk during the summer months. Walkers must be prepared for snow and wet conditions at any time of the year and need to carry their own tents, food and fuel stoves. The track head is about an hours drive from Mole Creek on partially gravel road.
Meander Forest Reserve: There are many wonderful walks in the Meander World Heritage Area, from half day to full day walks. Meander Falls (5 hours return) and Split Rock Track (2.5 hours return) are both good walks for fit, experienced and well-equipped bushwalkers. Track heads are about 30 minutes drive from Deloraine.
Quamby Bluff, Projection Bluff and Liffey Forest Reserve: Liffey Falls (1-2 hours return), Projection Bluff (a wilderness ramble of 1-2 hours) and Quamby Bluff (5 hours return) are feature walks of this area. Nearest accommodation is at Golden Valley, Bogan Gap or Quamby Brook. Track heads are 30 to 40 minutes drive from Deloraine
